You may have run into these common issues with your Meross MS110 Smart Plugs, luckily, I have all the fixes.
Apple HomeKit Connection Problems
If you're experiencing connection problems with your Meross MS110 Smart Plug, follow these steps to fix them and add your smart plug to Apple Home. These are not the Meross or Apple suggested steps, but steps I tested and found to be reliable.
Pair using these steps:
- Plug in the smart plug and let it blink green and ember for 15min
- Go to system wifi and connect to Meross WiFi
- Open Meross app and add new device
- DO NOT USE APPLE HOME VERSION instead use the non Apple version 😂
- Follow the steps there, this will actually work
- Open Apple Home App immediately after successful pairing and add new accessory
- Follow the steps there and cross your fingers 🤞
Dealing with Power Supply Issues
If your Meross MS110 Smart Plug is not receiving power or is experiencing power supply issues, there are a few things you can check. First, make sure that the plug is securely connected to the power outlet. If it is, check if the outlet is working properly by plugging in another device. If the outlet is not working, you may need to contact an electrician to fix the issue.
But more likely, you'll find your outlet is fine. If the power outlet is working but the smart plug is still not receiving power, you've got a dead plug. If you bought direct from Meross, you'll need to contact them for a replacement. If you bought through Amazon, you need to return and replace with the Seller.
I had a dead one in a 4 pack, but eventually it DID end up coming alive. All I did to accomplish this was plug into a variety of outlets around the house and held the reset button for 5 seconds at each outlet. I wouldn't call this a reliable fix for a dead smart plug...but if you really don't want to return your plug, try it! That stubborn plug has not given me an issue since then.
Addressing Firmware Update Errors
If you're encountering errors while trying to update the firmware of your Meross MS110 Smart Plug, there are a few steps you can take to address the issue. First, make sure that you have a stable internet connection and that your smart plug is connected to your Wi-Fi network. If the connection is unstable, try moving the smart plug closer to your router.
If the firmware update error persists, you can try resetting your smart plug to its factory settings. To do this, press and hold the power button on the plug for about 5 seconds until the LED light starts blinking amber + green. Then, follow the setup instructions I left for you above to reconnect the smart plug to your Wi-Fi network and attempt the firmware update again.
Resolving App Compatibility Challenges
If you're experiencing compatibility challenges with the Meross app and your MS110 Smart Plug, there are a few things you can try to resolve the issue. First, make sure that you have the latest version of the Meross app installed on your smartphone or tablet. You can check for app updates in the app store.
If you're still experiencing compatibility issues, simply restart your phone. When's the last time that thing was turned off? It's probably exhausted!
Handling Overheating Concerns
If you're concerned about your Meross MS110 Smart Plug overheating, there are a few precautions you can take to ensure safe usage. First, make sure that the smart plug is not overloaded with devices that exceed its maximum power rating. If you're using high-powered devices, consider using a different smart plug or spreading the load across multiple plugs.
It's also important to ensure that the smart plug is properly ventilated and not covered by any objects that could trap heat. Avoid placing the smart plug in direct sunlight or in areas with poor air circulation. If you notice that the smart plug is becoming excessively hot to the touch, unplug it immediately and contact Meross customer support for further guidance.
